Gaming on LinuxI know that Linux has come a long way in regards to the gaming side of things. I've gone back and forth on whether to fully go in on the Linux as a daily driver for my gaming computer but, there were always something that got in the way of it.
Recently I tried out the latest edition of Fedora and as is always the case, speed bumps presented themselves constantly. Mainly was in getting Steam to work and when I did get it working, the games either didn't work at all or they experienced crashes and freezes. Trying out a different version of Fedora 42 came to a halt when I couldn't even get past the setup section. Picking your timezone resulted in it crashing and having to hard reset the computer to try and get past this issue didn't fix the problem. I had to install the previous version and do the upgrade through that.
Ultimately I got things working and it was time to install a game that I needed as it is the backbone to one of the podcasts I'm a part of, Secret World Legends. Remembering in that I had to go through some workarounds last year but, forgetting what that process was. I went in search of that old video I have on the YouTube channel. Huzzah, SWL was up and running as previously to all this, it was producing a staggering 1 frame per second and essentially was an unplayable mess. Now though, the chat window and even the menu didn't have their overlay or art or whatever it was, was missing.
It was at this time, which happened to be 1 in the morning and I had been at this for several hours, that it had occurred to me that perhaps Linux in its current state. Even though that state was miles ahead of what it was not that long ago. Is not something I could effectively work with in a capacity of being a content creator. I really love Linux and hold it above the state of Windows but, I'm looking for an operating system that has a better reliability on par to that of Windows in running games. I get asked if the game I'm playing is on Linux and I have to say no, The experience of having to go through the steps of trying to get a gamete run and run at a level that is good enough, is sometimes exhausting. For my workflow I can't afford to spend at least an hour prior or even during a live stream trying to get a game to run under Linux when I know I can reboot over into Windows and press play and be up and running with no problem.
Maybe in a future date this story will be much different but, for now I have to trust and live within a Windows world. As a wise man once said

Crazy Machines 3: Rube Goldberg Madness - Your Experiences?Hey there, beautiful people!
I just published my deep dive into Crazy Machines 3 over on the blog, and I'm curious about your experiences with this physics puzzle madness!
For those who haven't played it, it's all about building these ridiculous chain-reaction machines to accomplish simple tasks in the most complicated way possible. Think dominoes knocking over platforms that launch basketballs that trigger switches... you get the idea.
I found myself simultaneously loving the "AHA!" moments when everything worked and wanting to throw my mouse across the room when gears wouldn't mesh properly because they were two pixels off alignment.
What about you folks?
- Have you managed to build any particularly satisfying or ridiculous contraptions?
- What's your approach to solving these puzzles - methodical planning or random experimentation?
- Do you think the difficulty curve is well-balanced or did you hit any major walls?
- For those who've explored the Steam Workshop, found any must-try community creations?
Check out my full review here for more thoughts: https://2tonwaffle.com/crazy-machines-3-review-rube-goldberg-paradise-or-puzzle-purgatory/
Looking forward to hearing your Rube Goldberg success (and horror) stories!

Your Moonbeam ExperienceWas wondering about how your Moonbeam experience has been going? Have been streaming to it since they've release the open beta several weeks ago and the experience has been pretty great. As for being a beta there are some bugs that I've been running into. Most notably has been that not been able to stream to the platform while using Riverside. Not a big deal for me but, it could be if there others that are using the service and would like to stream to Moonbeam. This is just personal experience and I'm not sure if they've been getting bug reports from others that use Riverside.
The viewing experience has been great and it's been really fun watching other streams. I'm really looking forward to when they open up the realm creation ability and then eventually Moonbeam full release. Do you stream to Moonbeam, leave your links below and let us know what you think and your experience with the platform.

Vimeo Moves Into Netflix SpaceVimeo had moved its core customer focus away from the smaller creator that was looking for an upstart alternative to YouTube, many years ago. Lately they've gone into the marketing towards the large organizations that want a Netflix like experience for their viewers and customers. I'm certain the pricing is going to be quite high, when you have to contact their sales department. It's the "if you have to ask how much, it's to rich for you" saying.
Vimeo Streaming lets creators roll their own Netflix
It includes tools to launch, manage and monetize a direct-to-audience streaming service.

Single Page of LinksI've been working on consolidating all of the places that pertain to 2TonWaffle and Indie Creator Hub to be a bit easier to find. One of those methods was to move our Mastodon accounts over to an easier to remember domain name. Now, our accounts live on indie creator.social and 2tonwaffle.social URL's and I've got a single page of links living within the #LinkStack framework that can be found at the following URL https://links.2tonwaffle.social/@2TonWaffle
This makes things a lot more easier to find all avenues of our content and social networks for you to visit and follow.

Revolt, A Discord AlternativeI've been giving more attention to Revolt lately. It's still early in spinning up an self-hosted instance but, it does check many of the boxes for a Discord like experience but more open sourced.
