So, for today's adventure we got stuck in traffic going up the hill because of a collision between a rivian pavement princess and a normal gigantic work truck that was carrying the stone slabs for somebody's fancy kitchen.

So they hit each other at the top of the hill, way out of sight from down below, and we nearly wore out the last of Harold's CVT trying to crawl up the hill to turn around because the paramedics had blocked off the road both ways and we were stuck.

So, my wife took over driving and then she decided that we should try keeping other people from making the same mistake and stopped the car in the sliplane coming off the roundabout at the bottom of the hill.

So we started directing traffic to take the other road up the hill, and Boy! People did not like that at all!

After a guy in a blue truck decided to yell at my wife and another maniac almost caused an accident because she didn't see Harold in the sliplane early enough, my wife moved the car and we proceeded to just wave people over from the side without blocking them from choosing to find out.

People were still mad! God forbid somebody point them at the second exit from a roundabout and tell them to drive like a mile out of their way! No they wanted to go up!

We still did our best and a lot of people did pay attention and re-route or ask what was up and then re-route, but oh it was something the level of rage people have at someone telling them to drive around!

Until of course, they got caught in stand-still traffic halfway up Union Hill, went, "wait, was this what the nerds were trying to warn me about?" And turn around.

We got several "thank you's" and one "I should have listened" from folks coming back on the downhill before a cop from the sheriff's office came to tell us this was unnecessary and then not take over directing the traffic.

So, we went up, assured that the accident was almost cleared, and lo!

we found ourselves behind the asshole in the blue truck.

Who then picked the exact moment before they actually did open up the road to turn around.

My conclusion from this activity is that people are dumb and Tesla drivers in particular are watching their infotainment screen and not the road.

if you want to try to direct traffic as a normal person, (say a bridge is out or something) you're better off just pointing without getting in the way, and if the public wants to die from not listening, then they can die warned.
