Nikon To Acquire RED

In a move that many of us didn't see coming, is that Nikon is to acquire RED, Inc.
TOKYO - Nikon Corporation (Nikon) hereby announces its entry into an agreement to acquire 100% of the outstanding membership interests of RED.com, LLC (RED) whereby RED will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nikon, pursuant to a Membership Interest Purchase Agreement with Mr. James Jannard, its founder, and Mr. Jarred Land, its current President, subject to the satisfaction of certain closing conditions thereunder.

I can see how the aspect of acquiring RED to move into the cinema camera market makes sound business sense. Instead of the massive amount of money and resources needed to just get started, why not just purchase one of the leaders within that market? The next question is going forward will new RED cameras be made with the Nikon Z mounting?
This might not affect many of us within the community but, there's a good portion of independent creators that have RED cameras or plan to rent them soon for their projects. I'm sure that this news won't be an issue for them, only for plans or potential problems if that at all.
