I was just thinking, how do #Youtuber #upload their #videos to #YouTube right now? Are their any open source #YT #uploaders? If so, how do we get #Peertube support in them to allow people to do an upload once and it go to multiple places? That way we lower the bar to entry of Peertube, while having a direct onboarding and exposure to the #Fediverse.

For streaming, I use Streamyard to stream to both PeerTube and YouTube at the same time (and Twitch and Facebook for now). -

@Niquarl I don't have a clue. I've never been a Youtuber! Maybe we need to find some folks that can create an easy to use YouTuber upload with all the features to allow uploading to Peertube as well in a one click effort to post to Peertube instead of depending on being able to possibly expatriate our data from Google. Get them before they upload to Google.

Sadly there's a Peertube bug that prevents GoToSocial followign at the moment, hopefully it's fixed soon. However, I was looking at your page and you do a lot of things with Wikipedia, is that right? Do you do edits of Wikipedia as well? I was thinking that people should have their Fediverse handles shown on Wikipedia as a way to interest others. Do you think something like that is good or possible?

@ozoned any Wikipedia user is free to show their PeerTube or Mastodon handle on their user page. As the user pages are totally manual and optional, there is no way to automate or force it.

Well it was an idea. Thank you Jan.@ozoned well, I think most Wikipedians with Fediverse presence are quite happy to add it. Also since accounts on Wikipedia are pseudonyms it would be rare to be able to match a Fediverse account with the Wikipedia one with automation and accuracy.

I'm just attempting to find anyway to get another foot hold for the fediverse out in the world. Just found out SearxNG has Fedi bangs and even puts Fedi info in the right panel when looking for specific folks. -

Currently, a SPARQL query (press the blue play button) gives 8,507 accounts there.

#foss #fedi #automation #script@ozoned Odysee, before it became terrible had a server-side thing that would automatically reupload video from youtube to Odysee, for those people who agreed to that sort of thing. I think there is a feature like this in PeerTube. But YouTube lately doesn't want that sort of thing to happen. They are scared for their platform, because a lot of people are trying to go away from it.

I think there is a feature like this in PeerTube. But YouTube lately doesn't want that sort of thing to happen. They are scared for their platform, because a lot of people are trying to go away from it.
@blenderdumbass Yup exactly this. TILVids instance was blocked for folks trying to reupload to Peertube. That's why I was thinking of getting to them with an application that can upload to numerous places. I do not have the time and absolutely NOT the skill to do that.

@ozoned Technically there is API for google, which can be enabled somewhere in the account settings. And I've seen some youtube uploaders on github, which use said key to upload stuff to youtube. Which means it is theoretically possible. The problem is, as soon as youtube will find out what we are doing it will revoke all those keys or do something to prevent this very thing from happening. Because their number 1 goal now is to keep people in.

@blenderdumbass absolutely agree. At this point it seems like I need to get newer YouTube's that haven't been entrenched yet or folks actively looking to support the Fediverse. Thanks for the thoughts and great Convo sir! :-).
